AddThis
Tool integrated into Core Publisher to allow site visitors to share published content via Twitter, Google+ and Facebook
B
Big Footer
Area at the bottom of your Core Publisher pages containing your footer information; Made up of three regions – footer top, footer and footer bottom
Big Story
Setting that displays one Post on your homepage in the top before the main River or Mini River of News with a larger photo, headline and teaser than a normal story
C
Category
Term used for tagging your Content set by the station; Core Publisher comes with a default set of Categories that can be edited later; Categories are used to create Category Pages that can be linked to from your Flexi-Menu, and for station Podcasts and RSS feeds
Content
Any Post, Page, Program, Person, audio or image on your Core Publisher site
D
Disqus
Tool integrated into Core Publisher to allow site visitors to comment on published posts
Draft
An unsaved, unpublished post or post fragment. Drafts are automatically saved by Core Publisher and stored at the Drafts tab on the Content page
E
Editor
A Core Publisher user role assigned to people who will be adding and editing content to your site, but do not need administrative privileges
F
Featured Content
A rotating block on the top of your homepage that displays images, headlines and a link to four pieces of content.
Flexi-menu
Terminology for your main navigation menu under the Masthead that contains links to your Programs and People pages, as well as your schedule and any other pages that you select; The Flexi-menu can be edited in the Content à Edit Queues section
Footer
The largest region of the Big Footer, containing links to your category pages, program schedule, events, sponsors, streams, etc.
Footer top
The top part of the Big Footer containing station call letters and logos of station sponsors
Footer bottom
Bottom part of the Big Footer containing links to your “Contact Us”, “Privacy Policy” and other Static Pages

Header
Branding area in top area of page that contains the call letters, logo and occasionally images and slogan of your station
M
Mini-River of News
A smaller version of the River of News used to display NPR Content and, on Station-focused sites, other Posts; Most commonly, Posts are displayed with a headline and small image
Most-active component
Colorful block located in the right rail that contains the headlines for the most visited stories on your site
N
Navigation bar
Region of your Core Publisher page that includes the Flexi-Menu and search bar
Node
Each item of content created in Core Publisher
Now-playing component
The block located in your right rail/second sidebar that contains your Now Playing content from Composer
NPR API
A database of posts created by and for NPR.org that Core Publisher stations can access at the Get NPR Content Tab to post on their site.
NPR Content
Any Content that is pulled from the NPR API and posted on your Core Publisher site
NPR Person
Any NPR staff member who is featured on a syndicated NPR Program; These people will automatically have a Person created for them on your Core Publisher site

Pages
Content type used to create general content
People
Content type that displays biographical information for station staff, hosts and content contributors; People are separate from Users, which refers only to log in information
People pages
Pages created when making a new Person
Podcast
Content type used to display all audio associated with a specific Category or Program
Podcast component
Block that contains the Podcast and RSS feed links for a page
Post
Content type used to create basic news posts

Program
Content type that displays information about a program that airs on your station, including the host, schedule, description and genre.
Program pages
Pages created when making a new Program
Another term for the second sidebar, or the column on the right-most side of your screen
River of News
A dynamic list of Posts displayed on the homepage of your Core Publisher site; Most commonly, Posts are displayed with a headline, small image and articles teaser

Scheduled Post
A Post that has been saved and scheduling using the “Scheduling Options” for a later date; Scheduled Posts can be found under the Scheduled tab on the Content page
Search field
A field above your right rail on the same row as your Flexi-Menu that allows visitors to search the content on your site
Skybox
In Visual Treatment 1 – a Feature that allows three or more posts with an image and headline to show up in rectangular boxes in the top-most part of your screen, between the Masthead and the Navigation Bar
In Visual Treatment 2 – a Feature that allows three or more posts with an image and headline to show up in rectangular boxes under the Navigation Bar
Social network components
Block located in the right rail/second sidebar that contains links to your station’s Facebook and Twitter pages
Static pages
Informative Pages like your Privacy Policy and Directions pages that will not be updated often; Will normally be linked to in the Bottom Footer
Station Admin
A Core Publisher user role assigned to people who will be creating new users and performing administrative tasks on your site, but may or may not be adding and editing content to your site
Station admin interface
The ‘back-end’ of your Core Publisher site that contains all of your settings and content creation options.
Station streams
A region of your top navigation bar by the “Listen Live” button that contains up-to-date information about the show that is currently airing on your station
Sticky-Strip
A strip located under the Navigation Bar that contains multiple topics as entered by your station that reflect important topics
T
Tag
A way to categorize Content on your Core Publisher site; Tags are case-sensitive, so ‘President’ and ‘president’ would be listed as two separate tags
Topic
A grouping of tags that can be used to create pages focused on specific topics that are not Categories
Topic pages
A grouping content related to no more than five related tags displayed with a custom name and image.
U
Users
Any person who will need authorization to log onto your Core Publisher site to access the Station admin interface, whether to create content or perform administrative tasks
Utility bar
Black menu with grey drawer located at the top of your screen when logged in; contains your administrative and content creation options
W
WYSIWG editor
‘What You See Is What You Get’ editor; another term for the text editor in Core Publisher, so named because you can edit the formatting of your text so that what you see in the text editor is what your site visitors will see
