Solving the content staging problem is indeed an ideal opportunity for the big players to make a meaningful contribution. Hope to see it happen!

From a UX perspective, improving editorial publishing workflows is definately on the agenda for contributed modules for Drupal 7 (look at drupal.org/project/workbench for example) and something we want to improve the core defaults for in Drupal 8 as well. It would be great to see an example complex workflow described somewhere, say in groups.drupal.org/usability :)

Hi Greg,

Thank you for the correction! I had written for our general audience, many of whom may not know about Drupal core vs. Drupal modules. My apologies that in avoiding getting too deep into the product, I failed to give credit where credit is due.

To clarify for all readers: Pathauto is a module that is installed on top of Drupal core to automatically create search-engine-friendly URLs. We're using this module, which is maintained by the open-source community (including Greg), in our installation of Drupal.

Greg - One of our developers (who first vetted this post) added this comment: "Our apologies, certainly, Greg. Though I think it's the highest compliment to Pathauto that we naturally think of it as a feature of out-of-the-box Drupal, even though it isn't truly part of core."

Thanks for your contributions and for your interest in our project!

Hi Angie,

Congrats on these two new launches. I've been reading this blog with great interest.

Just one note, that is not "out-of-the-box" search engine friendly URLS, they must come from Pathauto - http://drupal.org/project/pathauto - which is a separate contributed modules.

Cheers,
Greg Knaddison (co-maintainer of Pathauto)
