Core Publisher Release Notes, 1/6/12

by: Erin Teare Martin

Hello Fellow Core Publishers,

Worth noting that due to the (practically) weekly elections through June, we will be doing code pushes on Wednesday night, so you will see a shift in feature updates and sprint demo invites.

A fully immersive music mulitimedia content tool from NPR is now natively available in Core Publisher. There are a number of channels available today: Live in Concert, Village Vanguard, Tiny Desks, more; and each channel includes many archived and upcoming concerts. We are piloting the use of this content type with a handful of stations to ensure we build a feature set that meets stations’ and end user needs. We will communicate when it becomes available for everyone.

More playlist data is now available in Core Publisher. Basically any data you manually enter into Composer will show up on your Core Publisher playlists.

The medium of programs can now be defined as TV or Radio. As of this date there is no end-user facing presentation of this data, but we wanted to start collecting this flag for future development.

Program logos are now displaying on program pages. If you need new logos, please contact us. We have logos available for almost every national public media program.

Keep stories off River of News flag. Currently we have a flag on every post that allows stations to keep certain posts off the “river of news.” That flag will now work for /news and for the local news block used on the modular homepage.

Local News Only RSS feed is now available for every station at this URL: <station URL>/rss-local.xml.

Topics now auto complete in “related content” on post pages.

Other: We continue to test Drupal updates.

That’s all for now, Erin
