Tomorrow (Sept. 9) marks the official launch of the NPR Argo Project. Argo is offering topic-based community news blogs alongside the station website. You’ve heard a lot about Argo throughout the launch of Core Publisher because we are both providing journalism through the “River of News“.
The Argo sites distinguish themselves from traditional member station websites in the following way, according to the SF Weekly:
“What makes NPR’s Argo blogs different is that they’re not just a collection of radio-style stories uploaded onto a website: They’re a truly web-first approach to local news.”
By taking this “truly web-first approach”, Argo sites have expanded their news gathering capabilities by reaching beyond their station’s staff reporters. Blogging opens up access to all kinds of resources, as Mark Memmott of NPR’s “The Two Way” has said:
“I have an infinite number of reporters at my disposal, none of whom I have to talk to. ”
Use this to your advantage. Report without limitations. Harness the information around you.
Core Publisher is your opportunity to enhance your journalism through the “River of News” format and grow your audience online and on air.
